Restaurant compliance services in Gulfport, MS

Gulfport is the working heart of the Mississippi coast's restaurant scene, and several of the coast's compliance companies are based right in town. The two recurring jobs are the same as everywhere: get the exhaust hood inspected and cleaned on the fire code's schedule, and keep the grease trap pumped and papered. On this side of Harrison County that paperwork is literal, because the Harrison County Utility Authority requires a permit for the trap itself.

Hood cleaning companies

Mississippi's State Fire Marshal enforces a statewide fire code based on the International Fire Code, with local fire departments handling enforcement on the coast. Kitchen exhaust systems follow the NFPA 96 schedule: monthly inspection for solid fuel cooking, quarterly for high-volume kitchens, every six months for most operations, and annually for low-volume kitchens, with professional cleaning whenever grease is found. The service tag on the hood showing the company and date of the last cleaning is the first thing an inspector checks.

Grease trap pumping companies

Gulfport sits inside the Harrison County Utility Authority's grease program, which requires every food service facility to hold a grease generator permit, use only HCUA-permitted haulers, and run every pump-out on the Authority's manifest. Traps that go 90 days without a cleaning can be ordered in for inspection at the owner's expense. Our Biloxi grease trap guide covers the full rules; get current forms from HCUA at (228) 868-8752.
